When viewing pictures in Photos app, the "Zoom" slider does not indicate where the actual size is. It's very important to be able to view photos in actual size. Thank you. Too see the actual size of the picture, use the mouse wheel to reduce its size considerably. It will then "bounce back" to actual size. Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, there's no "Actual Size", just "Fit to Screen". I think MS feels their "facilitated zooming" has made the former obsolete since we can quickly zoom large images to whatever size we want. Why is the exact size important? Got it. It's good you posted here before creating a Feedback Hub request because this needed clarification.
There are a couple reasons I think you'll want to only ask for the zoom level to be displayed rather than suggesting that Edit's approach would also be satisfactory. With Edit's "full size" feature, pictures that exceed the display's limit let's say high show as unscaled.
But it also enlarges smaller pictures to fill the the screen if they're bigger than about Wouldn't you want every picture to be unscaled? Currently smaller pictures require either the mouse wheel technique I described above or the use of Edit's "-" control. The other complication is the optimal size from which to judge pixel quality. I suppose the norm is to start with unscaled images but others may feel differently so why not let people decide which size is best for them?
A percentage indicator would do that perfectly. Yes, agree. A percentage indicator on the zoom slider would do perfectly. The "Edit" approach is just a suggestion to keep it simple for them if they prefer not to do too much. OK, so go into the Feedback Hub and make it an enhancement request. You can get there either via the Start Menu or under See More in the app's upper right corner. To make the slider less cluttered, do you think it would be fine to omit numbers and simply have vertical lines of different lengths like a ruler?
I just did. Thanks for telling me about the Feed Back Hub. I didn't know it exists. I like your suggestion about the "ruler" type but I didn't go into details about what the slider should look like. Hope their software team will come up with the most effective way to do it. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. Thanks for the tip. However, when I do that, the picture bounces back to show the size that is shrunk to fit the screen, not the "Actual Size".
In reply to SonN56's post on December 8, It's the better way to evaluate the quality of a picture. If viewed at larger than actual size, every picture looks blurry. If viewed in smaller size, all of them look sharp. Neither case allows you to know the true quality of the picture, and therefore, the technical skill of the photographer, or the capability of the camera. In reply to SonN56's post on December 9, In reply to SonN56's post on December 10, Thanks again for all the suggestions.
Glad to help. According to a very recent thread, the pre-November app would display full size if you double-clicked; did it do that for you? In any event, it doesn't now but I think you can always push the mouse wheel all the way up to do so. Oops - the guy in the other thread says the wheel doesn't zoom to the photo's full size.
If that's true your request is clearly more valuable. You may want to update it make a comment that points out that there's currently no way to view large images at full size assuming you agree that's true. This site in other languages x.
